One Employer’s Story – Employed Worker Training Grant @ Fairwinds Credit Union

Fairwinds Credit Union is a Central Florida-grown business that has the reputation for training its employees and promoting from within.  As a matter of fact, the company’s president and chief operating officer began as a part-time teller 25 years ago. 

“Fairwinds’ greatest asset is our employees,” shares Brian Cicco, executive vice president of human resources.  “We are committed to their success to ensure our success as an organization.”  With this mission, Brian discovered the options available by WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA to help train and recruit employees. 

Under the Employed Worker Training Awards program, Fairwinds was reimbursed $25,000 toward costs to train 70 employees from 31 bank branches in Integrity Selling.

“WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA allowed us to offer advanced training for a much larger audience in a specific time period,” claims Brian.  “Couple that with results in productivity and allowing our employees to move up in the company, it allows the company to reach our goals quicker.”

After training the 70 employees, Fairwinds experienced a 15 to 20 percent increase in productivity, and seven people were promoted to new positions.  This opened up seven new entry level-positions for Central Florida job seekers.
